OBJECTIVES:
- Teachers will explicitly acknowledge the problem of stress and anxiety, and they will commit to providing a solution through ASSET.
- Students will understand the brain science of stress.
- Students will “take stock” of their stress responses and stressors in order to understand their stress patterns.
PROTIP: Language in the ASSET curriculum provides a framework for teachers, administrators, and students to talk about stress and anxiety. Use language from this primer lesson as a way to support students. For example, students can use the hand motion of “flip- ping their lid” to non-verbally signal that they are stressed and need a moment to pause.
